Overview
The amaran T2c is a 2-foot RGBWW tube light with white-light adjustment, saturated colour and a detachable rechargeable battery grip. It can act as a visible practical, a narrow close source or a hidden colour accent.

The T2c uses a single-zone light engine. It does not have the individually addressable sections of the PT pixel tubes, while its removable battery handle creates a different power and rigging package.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Detachable battery grip can be swapped independently of the tube.
- NATO rail and threaded rigging points provide several mounting choices.
- RGBWW, white-light and app operation suit small practical-light setups.
Limitations
- No spatial pixel mapping along the tube.
- The battery grip adds length and weight beyond the emitting section.
- Wired DMX needs the correct active adapter; Bluetooth app control is not CRMX.
Practical uses
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Visible practical | Expose the tube so its surface retains the intended colour in the frame. Hide the battery grip and cable exit where possible, and check reflections in nearby glass. |
| Close interview or rim | Place the long emitting surface close to the face or shoulder, keeping its narrow dimension in mind. A tube gives a different wrap horizontally and vertically. |
| Small interior accent | Use the NATO or threaded points to place the light out of frame. Keep the grip accessible for battery changes, and check that a door, seat or performer cannot hit it. |
Output and colour
The maximum reference is measured at 0.5m. A long tube at close range is an extended source, so avoid using a point-source inverse-square calculation as a substitute for a measurement. Keep the CCT and brightness of saturated colours separate when comparing it with another tube.
For a specific CCT, distance and accessory, use the model’s manufacturer specification and photometric reference. Test the final lighting and camera combination when colour consistency or high-speed recording is critical.
CRI, TLCI and SSI describe different aspects of colour reproduction. A high CRI value does not establish a perfect match to daylight, tungsten or another LED. Compare important skin tones, wardrobe and product colours on the camera used for the job.
Power and batteries
The supplied AC package and the detachable battery grip are separate operating routes. amaran quotes up to 2 hours at maximum output for this model’s battery arrangement; a second grip makes a battery change quicker than recharging the tube in place.
The listed supply routes include the matching 24V adapter and supported battery/DC arrangements. Use the specified voltage, polarity and connector. Support the grip and cable, and distinguish a runtime-saving output mode from unrestricted maximum brightness.
Control, cooling and camera operation
The OLED menu provides CCT, HSI, gel and effect modes. Sidus Link handles wireless Bluetooth operation. The menu also offers frequency adjustment and battery-duration settings, both of which should be checked with the final exposure and camera setup.
Wired DMX uses the compatible amaran USB-C to DMX adapter with the required power-input arrangement. Patch the correct personality, test signal-loss behaviour and secure the cable before rigging. The USB-C control socket is not proof of generic USB-C charging support.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
The tube’s integrated diffuser creates the emitting surface. A size-matched optional fabric grid can reduce spill; it does not increase total light output or turn the tube into a focused projector.
Use the NATO rail and 3/8-inch threaded mounting positions with suitable hardware. Include the battery grip in the load and clearance calculation, especially on the longer T4c. Do not support the fixture by its electrical cable or clamp across the emitting plastic.

Rental and used-fixture checks
- Confirm the exact model and generation on the label, then compare the included supply, cables and accessories with the matching manual.
- Inspect the emitting face, housing, connector pins, mounting threads and locks. Test every supplied modifier and make sure the release mechanism fully engages.
- Run the light at the intended output until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check for flicker, unexpected shutdown, uneven emitters and unusual fan noise.
- Test white light and every available colour mode; check low-level dimming, blackout and the camera/shutter combination used for the job.
- Test the battery under load rather than accepting a full-charge indicator as proof of capacity. Include the correct charger, cable and any removable grip in the handover.
