Overview
The Aladdin BI-FABRIC 4 is a long, flexible 200 W bi-colour LED mat with a separate dimmer. Its narrow rectangular face is useful for overhead strips, product reflections and soft lighting in locations where a rigid fixture is difficult to fit.

It belongs to the fabric-head generation, rather than the earlier BI-FLEX 4. The current product page and the 2022 manual give different dimensions and masses, so identify the panel revision before ordering a case or matching a support frame.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Long narrow source
- Light emitting head
- Variable white
Limitations
- A square mat is easier when equal width and height are needed.
- Frame, dimmer, supply and battery are additional.
- No independent RGB colour mixing.
Practical uses
Table or counter overhead. Place the long side along the playing area and use a grid or skirt to protect the background. Check exposure at the near and far ends of the table.
Product strip. Watch the reflected line on the product and adjust the panel angle and diffusion gap. The length of the reflection may matter more than the centre lux figure.
Vehicle fill. Fit the thin head in the available space while keeping the dimmer and battery outside the camera view. Use suitable grip support and protect the short head cable.
Output and colour
Aladdin’s BI-FABRIC 4 photometric graphic is linked below. Compare it with the actual panel revision and use the stated measurement distances. Additional diffusion and a grid change the result.
The white range provides warm-to-cool adjustment. It does not provide saturated RGB colours or prove a spectral match with another light at the same Kelvin setting. Check the working source on skin, wardrobe and products through the camera.
| Setting | 0.6 m | 1 m | 2 m | 3 m |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Power and batteries
Use the correct external dimmer and approved adapter or battery arrangement. The product page lists 12–30 V DC and a 90–240 V AC reference; the 2022 manual lists a 100–240 V power unit.
The kit can use V-mount or Gold-mount hardware. Match the connector, dimmer and continuous battery rating to the actual system. Support the dimmer separately so it cannot pull on the flexible head.
Control, cooling and camera operation
The 2022 manual describes two-channel white/bi-colour DMX through the dimmer. Current kit lists include DMX/LumenRadio control units; confirm the supplied controller and antenna rather than inferring radio operation from the mat alone.
The panel is passively cooled. Keep the emitting face ventilated, avoid sharp creases and follow the manual’s folding and storage instructions. The listed panel and dimmer IP ratings are different and do not make the complete kit waterproof.
Matching a 200 W family dimmer
The August 2022 200 W dimmer manual lists BI-FABRIC 2/4, BI-FLEX 2/4 and FABRIC-LITE 20 compatibility. It requires the correct sheet type to be selected before connecting a panel. The controller restarts when the sheet type or cable/radio control method is changed.
| Control item | Documented behaviour |
|---|---|
| DMX | Two-channel white/bi-colour personality; match the actual controller profile and start address. |
| Wired / radio | 5-pin DMX input/output or LumenRadio, selected in the menu. |
| Radio handover | RF Link Reset clears the previous transmitter association. |
| Physical package | Battery plate, adapter holder, antenna mount and 3/8-inch bracket belong to the controller; support these independently of the fabric head. |
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
The manufacturer lists a dedicated frame, diffuser, frame grid, softbox and grid options for the long panel. The complete working depth is greater than the bare fabric thickness.
Identify whether the panel is the 1200 mm product-page version or the shorter 1080 mm manual reference before buying replacement supports. Use the intended attachment points and retain an overhead head and its power equipment separately.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | Choose it for |
|---|---|
| Aladdin BI-FABRIC 2 | A shorter 100 W rectangular mat. |
| LiteMat Plus 2L | Another long variable-white source with different support and dimmer hardware. |
| BI-FLEX 4 | Original 1080 × 300 mm, 200 W bi-colour BI-FLEX 4. A long narrow head with a matching original dimmer and frame. |
| FABRIC-LITE 350 | 900 × 900 mm, 350 W bi-colour fabric panel with a 48 V power path. Choose its broad white source when saturated colour and pixel mapping are unnecessary. |
Rental and used-fixture checks
Read the label and measure the panel. Inspect the fabric, LED traces, attachment rings, short cable and locking connector. Test warm and cool emitters across the entire length.
Verify the dimmer, AC adapter, battery mount, antenna, extensions, frame, diffuser and grid. Run DMX and radio tests on the actual controller before accepting the package.
