Overview
The Aladdin EYE-LITE is a miniature bi-colour LED with an internal rechargeable battery. Its small face suits an eye light, close product detail or concealed fill in a prop, shelf or vehicle.

The EYE-LITE adjusts white balance and intensity independently. Its small size is its main advantage; it is a close accent source rather than a replacement for a large interview key.
Discontinued model. Aladdin lists this model in the legacy support section. Check battery condition, charging-port wear and availability of compatible replacement parts.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Small self-contained light
- Variable white and local dimming
- USB charging
Limitations
- Limited emitting area and coverage.
- No RGB colour control.
- An ageing battery or charging port can limit a used fixture.
Practical uses
Eye light. Place the fixture near the lens axis for a small catchlight, then dim it until it complements the key. Watch for reflections in glasses and the subject’s eyeline.
Concealed fill. Place it in a set feature where its small body can be hidden. Secure it properly and leave the controls and charge connection accessible.
Small product detail. Use a close position to lift a detail or create a reflected highlight. Add the appropriate diffuser when individual LEDs appear in the reflection.
Output and colour
A small source can be bright at close distance while covering little area. Judge the actual subject exposure and the reflected shape rather than assuming the lamp can act as a large soft key.
The manufacturer’s legacy runtime claims apply to the documented battery and operating conditions. Test the actual battery through a representative take and recharge cycle; elapsed age and prior storage can matter more than the original runtime claim.
Power and batteries
Charge through the original Micro-USB arrangement using the approved supply. The charging connector and battery should be inspected for wear before the light is mounted.
The EYE-LITE has a built-in battery; confirm the service route before assuming it can be swapped on set.
Control, cooling and camera operation
Local intensity and white-balance controls provide the working adjustment. This generation does not acquire Bluetooth, Art-Net or CRMX through the newer ALITE name.
Test the available low end and camera settings, particularly for close eye-light work where very small level changes are visible. Keep the body ventilated when used inside a set piece.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
Use the model-specific diffuser and a suitable ¼-inch mount. The original A-LITE included a hinged diffuser; EYE-LITE accessories and mounts are sized for the smaller body.
A small diffuser smooths the emitter pattern but does not create the wrap of a large source. Secure any mount used above an actor rather than relying on the USB lead.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | Choose it for |
|---|---|
| Aputure MC | A compact colour-light alternative with a different battery and control system. |
| Aputure MT Pro | A small bar source when a longer catchlight is useful. |
| A-LITE (Original) | Discontinued original 8 W bi-colour A-LITE with Micro-USB charging. It lacks the CLAID colour engine, USB-PD and network features of ALITE 2. |
| ALITE 2 | 15 W CLAID pocket light with a removable battery, green/magenta adjustment and Wi-Fi Art-Net. Its small emitting face gives different softness and coverage from a mat. |
| U-LITE | 1.2 W USB-A prop accent with seven preset colours. Its tap control and very small format serve a different job from a dimmable, remotely controllable pocket light. |
Rental and used-fixture checks
Inspect the housing, mounting thread, controls, charging port and battery behaviour. Run the light long enough to reveal premature shutdown or charging faults.
Confirm the correct diffuser, charging lead and mounting adapter. Check the battery after the fixture has cooled and avoid accepting a recently charged indicator as proof of useful runtime.
Battery and charging check
Run the light from its internal battery for a complete practical test, then check charging and the cable socket. Inspect for swelling, a loose cover or a damaged connector before relying on an older pack. The original Micro-USB charging system is distinct from ALITE 2’s removable battery and USB-PD operation; confirm parts availability for the exact model.
