Overview
The Aladdin WHIP-LITE is a flexible 120 W bi-colour fabric light with a 3.34-metre-long, 17 cm-wide emitting format. It creates an elongated source for hidden set lighting, narrow overheads and controlled product reflections.

The WHIP-LITE is exceptionally long and narrow. It rolls for transport and spreads its output along a strip, which makes it useful in positions where a conventional square mat creates the wrong highlight.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- An unusually long emitting surface
- Rolls into a compact transport shape
- Local and app control
Limitations
- Requires support along its length.
- LED regions and the rear control area need protection.
- Console operation needs extra hardware.
Practical uses
Concealed counter light. Run the strip behind a counter lip or set feature using its designed mounting points. Hide the emitting surface from the camera and keep it away from hot equipment.
Long product reflection. Use its very narrow face to create a long highlight. Watch for individual emitters in glossy surfaces and add diffusion where needed.
Overhead strip. Support the fabric along the intended path, place the control connection at an accessible end and add spill control to keep light off walls. Avoid a sharp bend at the rear control module.
Output and colour
The long emitting shape changes the way the lamp lights and reflects in a scene. Do not compare it with a square mat solely by nominal wattage or a centre lux value.
The 2022 WHIP-LITE manual distinguishes a 120 W light source from 140 W power consumption. Its February 2024 revision changes the CCT specification to 2200–12,000 K. Identify the revision before relying on that broader range; this entry keeps the 2022 range as its baseline.
Power and batteries
The 2022 manual lists 12–24 V DC at the dimmer and a 100–240 V AC power unit. The older catalogue gives a narrower DC range, so follow the actual unit label and approved adapter rather than combining figures from different revisions.
Use the matching supply or approved battery arrangement. Keep the battery and power cable supported separately from the fabric. Plan the cable route before mounting a long strip, especially where doors, drawers or set pieces can move.
Power label and dimmer placement
Compare the actual head and supply labels when assembling a used strip kit. The 2022 manuals use 12–24 V DC, while the WHIP-LITE source and consumption figures differ. Keep the documented consumption and emitter rating separate when checking a battery and cable. Support the supply and rear control hardware so the narrow fabric strip is not carrying the electrical package.
Control, cooling and camera operation
The built-in rear module and Bluetooth app provide local and phone operation. An ALL-IN-family controller or the appropriate DMX attachment adds the console route described in the manual.
The panel’s IP32 rating does not establish a waterproof power package. Allow passive cooling, protect the LEDs from direct tape and pressure, and test the actual frame rate, shutter and low-level fade.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
Use the eyelets and hook-and-loop attachment areas for support along the strip. Keep the fabric away from sharp edges and avoid rolling through the rear electronics in an unintended direction.
Diffusion blends the individual emitters; a skirt or flags control where the long source spills. Any support or diffusion added to the head becomes part of the rigging load.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | Choose it for |
|---|---|
| Aladdin BI-FABRIC 2 | A much shorter rectangular mat. |
| LiteMat Plus 2L | A supported long source with a different power and dimmer system. |
| CAPE-LITE | 1700 × 320 mm, 120 W bi-colour fabric source. A shorter, wider alternative to WHIP-LITE, with its own support and modifier dimensions. |
| ALL-IN LINE | 880 × 300 mm, 165 W RGBWW LINE. A narrow colour source with a 48 V supply path, distinct from the square ALL-IN 1/2 packages. |
| MOSAIC TUBE 8 | Approximately 2.4 m inflatable RGBWW tube at a 200 W rating. Choose the longer source for extended reflections and coverage; allow space for its complete support package. |

Rental and used-fixture checks
Unroll the entire head and inspect every region, attachment point and the cable near the rear control module. Test both white channels along the full length.
Confirm the adapter, controller, battery lead and extensions. On a WHIP-LITE, identify the manual / firmware revision before specifying the extended white range.
