Overview
The ARRI SkyPanel S60 Pro is a 500W-maximum RGBW soft panel with an integrated power supply, built-in wireless control and four pixel zones. It updates the S60-C format while retaining compatibility with its front and mounting accessories. Its native soft output suits keys, fill and studio installations; it remains an IP20 fixture rather than an all-weather hard/soft SkyPanel X.

Strengths and limitations
- Strengths: integrated PSU and wireless control, improved low-end dimming, four zones and a large existing S60-C accessory range.
- Trade-offs: a substantial head with IP20 protection; it does not provide the native hard-light optical system of SkyPanel X.
- Choose it for: a familiar SkyPanel soft source with fewer separate boxes and modern control connections.
Practical uses
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Interview / narrative key | Use Standard Diffusion for a broad nearby source or add a compatible bank for a larger emitting area. Control spill with a grid, flags and source placement. |
| Studio grid | Choose the pole-operated yoke when adjustment from below matters. Plan the integrated-PSU head weight and access to the bottom control panel. |
| Mixed SkyPanel package | Use the documented Classic-matching settings where required, then check colour and exposure through the actual diffusers. Four-zone pixel control needs the correct console profile. |
Output and colour
The ARRI technical-data page publishes the following nominal centre illuminance at 5m. Each row uses a different front panel; the Intensifier’s higher centre value accompanies a narrower beam.
| Front panel / beam | 3,200K | 5,600K |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Diffusion / 103° | 647 lux | 680 lux |
| Intensifier / 71° | 960 lux | 1,001 lux |
| Lite Diffusion / 105° | 659 lux | 684 lux |
| Heavy Diffusion / 114° | 470 lux | 494 lux |
ARRI describes approximately 20% more output than the S60-C on average and provides a Classic-output matching setting. That family claim is separate from the exact panel, CCT and distance values above. Compare sources through their working front panels rather than using a percentage as a universal exposure difference.
The Pro retains an RGBW engine rather than the RGBACL engine of SkyPanel X. ARRI ALEXA Modes and green–magenta adjustment offer camera and colour tools, but matching still needs the production camera, actual diffusion and surrounding sources.
Power and batteries
The power supply is integrated. Maximum consumption is 500W from 100–240V AC, eliminating the separate S60-C PSU box while moving that power-supply mass into the head. Include the working head weight in support decisions.
Full-output DC operation is specified at 48–52V through the 3-pin XLR. It is a different supply requirement from the older Classic battery input. Use a battery system and cable rated for the complete load; a connector that fits does not establish the correct voltage, polarity or continuous current.
A 500Wh supply would provide one hour at 500W in an energy-only calculation before conversion losses and cut-off. Actual runtime varies with brightness, colour and supply efficiency. AC through-power also has its own connector and circuit limits; the 500W fixture rating is not the allowable cumulative load for a chain.
Control, cooling and camera operation
| Path | Operating detail |
|---|---|
| Local | Control panel is positioned at the bottom of the fixture; set intensity, colour, operating mode and relevant fan settings before exposure. |
| Console | 5-pin DMX in/through with RDM; match the personality to LiOS and the console library. |
| Network | Art-Net 4 and sACN through Ethernet in/out. ARRI specifies that the hardwired data path continues through the unit when fixture power is off. |
| Wireless / app | Built-in CRMX and Bluetooth remove the need for the external wireless accessory used on many Classic packages. |
| Service / virtual tools | USB-C and Ethernet support the published service workflow; ARRI also provides CloudIO integration and a digital twin. |
LiOS 3.2 or higher is specified for S60 Pro. Confirm the installed version, low-level fade behaviour, pixel-zone orientation and fan settings on the rental unit. Camera tests should include the planned frame rate, shutter and low dimmer values, not just a full-output static frame.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
| Item | Working-package detail |
|---|---|
| Front accessories | ARRI specifies compatibility with S60-C front accessories, including diffusion, grids, intensifiers and supported softboxes. |
| Mounting accessories | Classic S60-C mounting accessories are supported, but the Pro’s integrated-PSU working mass still has to be included. |
| Manual / pole-operated | Select the yoke for the intended stand or studio-grid use; the two versions have different weights and operation. |
| Weather | IP20 is an indoor protection rating. A SkyPanel X package is the ARRI alternative when the job calls for the specified all-weather construction. |
ARRI’s published weights conflict: the technical table lists about 14kg with manual yoke and 15kg with pole-operated yoke, while its FAQ describes a 15kg manual unit. Use the actual assembled fixture weight for rigging and transport, then add front accessories and cable load. A single number without the yoke configuration hides that difference.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | Why compare it |
|---|---|
| ARRI SkyPanel S60-C | The earlier soft panel, with a separate PSU and different wireless and pixel-control arrangements. |
| ARRI SkyPanel X | Native hard/soft optical options, RGBACL colour and IP66 construction. |
| ARRI SkyPanel S120-C | A longer Classic aperture for broad reflections, overhead strips or a different key shape. |
| ARRI SkyPanel S60-RP | The earlier remote-phosphor option changes white colour through physical panels; it lacks the Pro’s electronic colour mixing and integrated PSU. |

Rental and used-fixture checks
- Confirm S60 Pro rather than S60-C, the installed LiOS version and the manual or pole-operated yoke.
- Fit the intended S60-C accessory and check its latch, clearance and assembled load.
- Test wired DMX, network pass-through, CRMX and the required low-level fades.
- For battery work, verify a 48–52V supply and the correct rated 3-pin XLR cable.
- Weigh the assembled head when transport or support limits are close, because ARRI’s published yoke-weight references differ.
