Overview

Astera QuikBeam Connect product photograph

The Astera QuikBeam Connect is a track-mounted RGBMintAmber spotlight for permanent indoor installations. It combines the QuikBeam optical system with an integrated TracklightAdapter, allowing a venue to change colour and intensity remotely while retaining the appearance and positioning of architectural track lighting.

This is a mains-powered installation fixture. It is offered for 3-circuit or H-type track and is rated IP20. The swappable-battery workflow and IP65 rating of the portable QuikBeam should not be applied to the complete Connect assembly.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Track mounting integrates power and support in a compact installation.
  • Manual zoom and optional beam-control accessories cover accents, displays and wall washes.
  • CRMX and AsteraApp allow installed fixtures to change looks without physical access to every head.

Limitations

  • IP20 confines the complete fixture to suitable dry indoor locations.
  • The track standard, adapter and site electrical installation must match.
  • Its small light engine suits accents; broad illumination or a distant key may require a larger source.

Practical uses

SetupWorking approach
Studio or hospitality setEstablish a neutral everyday look and store separate colour looks for events or filmed sequences.
Gallery or retail accentAim and meter the light at the object. Consider reflections, glare and the exposure requirements of sensitive exhibits.
Venue wall colourUse the zoom and optional elliptical filter to shape coverage. Check overlap between heads before finalising track positions.

Output and colour

The light engine draws 20W and provides tunable white from 1,750–20,000K as well as full colour. The specification gives 2,294 lux at 3m and 5,500K. Treat that as a spot reference, not the illuminance delivered across a wall at flood.

Astera publishes CRI/TLCI of at least 96 over 3,200–6,500K with OutputGain disabled. That range and condition belong with the figure; they do not describe every saturated colour or every Kelvin setting.

Power and batteries

The complete fixture lists 30.5W maximum consumption and a 100–240V AC input. Power is supplied through the matching track adapter. Track compatibility is a mechanical and electrical requirement, not something established by a similar-looking connector.

The Connect package replaces the portable battery arrangement with a permanent supply. Plan circuit capacity, switching and maintenance access for the installation. Keep mains work and track selection with the qualified installer responsible for the system.

Control and camera operation

The documented control paths include CRMX, AsteraApp through the Astera wireless system and infrared remote control. Wireless RDM is supported through CRMX. Do not assume the portable QuikBeam’s accessible PoE connection is part of the installed Connect workflow.

Test control reception from the final track location, including after the venue is occupied. Save the desired startup state and behaviour when control is lost, so a power cycle or console shutdown produces a predictable result.

Modifiers, mounting and the working package

Choose the 3-circuit or H-type version before ordering. Black, white and custom-colour versions have distinct order codes. The two standard assemblies have slightly different dimensions and weights: approximately 2.09kg for 3-circuit and 2.07kg for H-type.

Manual pan, tilt and zoom set the final beam. Optional barndoors, EdgeSoftener and elliptical filter alter the presentation. Secure the adjustment locks and any accessory SafetyLink, and retain access for cleaning and servicing.

Rental and used-fixture checks

For an existing installation, identify the exact adapter and track standard before specifying replacement fixtures. Inspect the adapter lock, yoke, accessory retention and signs of heat or connector damage.

Check white and colour matching against the installed heads, verify the saved startup look and test remote access from the operator’s position. Keep the fixture’s installation documentation with the venue’s lighting records.
