Overview
The Creamsource Doppio+ is a legacy nominal 2 × 1 LED panel with narrow spot optics, a separate power supply and fixed-white or Bender bi-colour versions. It predates Vortex and remains relevant when identifying older rental stock and used equipment.

The fixture is marketed as a 360W-class light, while the technical input table lists 350W. Those numbers should stay separate from the 450W capacity of its external power supply. The Bender version adjusts white light; it is not a full-colour panel.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- The elongated face and spot optics provide directional output for a bounce or diffusion setup.
- A shallow head and detachable yoke can help in existing studio or location rigs.
Limitations
- Version identification is essential because the fixed-Daylight and Bender output tables differ substantially.
- The complete kit includes a large separate supply and the correct cable; a bare used head is an incomplete package.
- It lacks the Vortex range’s full-colour and built-in Ethernet/CRMX package.
Practical uses
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Directional bounce | Use the beam to cover the required part of a board, then move or spread it until the bounce is reasonably even. |
| Diffused key | Leave room for the native spots to blend before the diffusion surface. Check for unevenness in reflective products. |
| Background strip | Rotate the rectangular head to suit the composition, keeping the cable and yoke clear through the required tilt range. |
Output and colour
| Version / CCT | 1m | 3m |
|---|---|---|
| Daylight, 5,600K | 100,000 | 34,200 |
| Bender, 3,200K | 55,200 | 18,400 |
| Bender, 4,000K | 91,200 | 30,300 |
| Bender, 5,600K | 58,300 | 19,500 |
The readings come from the manufacturer data sheet’s separate Daylight and Bender tables. They describe the concentrated spot configuration. They should not be substituted for measurements with a dome, spreading lens or softbox, and the two versions should not share one headline daylight lux figure.
Power and batteries
The 450W number on a supplied PSU describes its capacity, not a 450W LED engine. Match the supply and head cable to the actual Doppio revision and confirm the label before planning distribution. Battery operation requires the documented 24–32V arrangement and enough continuous current for the load.
Control, cooling and camera operation
Use the legacy DMX scenario that matches the installed firmware and colour version. A Daylight head, a Bender head and a modern Vortex should not be assumed to share a console profile. Record the exact model and operating mode with lighting notes.
Older documents make different high-speed claims depending on variant, output level and mode. The shared manual specifically qualifies Bender behaviour at non-maximum settings. Test a dimmed cue at the actual frame rate and shutter rather than relying on a general high-speed label.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
Doppio-sized domes, lenses and softboxes must match the larger front rails. The wide head, external supply and cable all affect rigging space. Inspect the quick-release yoke and modifier retention before putting the head into a difficult-access position.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | When to compare it |
|---|---|
| Vortex8 | A current hard-panel platform with full colour and modern control. |
| Vortex8 Soft | A dedicated broad native soft source. |
Rental and used-fixture checks
- Confirm the “+” hardware generation and D, T or B colour version from the label.
- Include the correct PSU, head lead, yoke and required spreading lens.
- Check output at the intended Bender setting; do not use fixed-Daylight figures for planning.
- Warm the unit up, test low fades and inspect cables, cooling surfaces and all retaining hardware.
