Overview
The Dedolight DLED30-D is a large daylight focusing LED with a 320W published power reference and 1200-size optics. It serves studio and larger location work, including projection and reflected lighting.

It is a much larger support and transport package than the DLED10 despite a similar wattage class. Versions place the DT30 controller separately or on the studio rig. Confirm the actual arrangement before ordering support.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Wide native focusing range.
- Large-format projection and beam attachments.
Limitations
- Heavy head and separate electronics.
- Fixed daylight output and active cooling.
Practical uses
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Studio key | Choose field size before comparing the 65° flood and 4° spot. |
| Large projection | Specify DP1200 optics, lens and shutter/gobo module. |
| Distant reflection | Align the approved beam attachment and check the subject’s complete working area. |
Set the head position for the direction and shadow first, then choose focus and accessories for coverage. A sharp gobo or precisely shuttered image needs imaging optics; closing barn doors around a small spot does not create the same optical result.
Output and colour
At 10ft, Dedolight California publishes 1,300 lux in flood, 18,000 lux in spot and 26,500 lux with the DPBA-L18. These are manufacturer/distributor configuration readings, not independent tests. The concentrated settings illuminate less area. Compare the desired field rather than choosing the largest centre reading.
For a useful comparison, record colour setting or lamp, dimming level, optic, focus position, distance and illuminated area. Measure after diffusion or reflection when that is the working setup. Wattage, centre intensity and coverage describe different parts of the result.
Power and batteries
Order the matched head, controller, head cable and mains cable as a complete system: DT10 for DLED10-D, DT10-BI for DLED10-BI and DT30 for DLED30-D. Studio-mounted and separate-controller versions need different support and access plans.
These larger packages are normally supplied from AC through their controller. A portable power station must support the complete continuous AC load as well as the desired runtime. Use the actual input label for distribution planning and retain access to the electronics when the head is raised.
Control, cooling and camera operation
| Control path | Operating notes |
|---|---|
| Local | Intensity at the matched controller; CCT adjustment on the bi-colour model. |
| Console | The specified DT10/DT10-BI/DT30 package includes DMX. Confirm connector condition, address and available personality. |
| Camera/sound | Check active cooling after warm-up. Test low-level dimming and the intended high-frame-rate/shutter combination before recording. |
Cooling reference for this head: Active liquid/fan cooling system. Listen to the complete working package, including its controller or ballast, rather than checking only the head.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
| Item | Compatibility and working notes |
|---|---|
| Accessory family | 1200-size optics; these are a different scale from DP400/A-size. |
| Projection | DP1200-family lens and approved shutter/gobo/iris assembly. |
| Beam control | Model-specific barn doors and wide-angle/parallel-beam attachment. |
| Support | Include the optic, cable pull and controller arrangement in the working load. |
Aspheric focusing optics are different from a conventional Fresnel. Check the actual accessory’s compatibility list, locking method and lens choice. A brand name or similar front diameter is not enough to establish fit.
Fit the intended front accessory before choosing the stand position. Check tilt clearance, balance, cable movement and independent support for any external electronics. Use the documented mounting hardware and appropriate secondary retention for the installation.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | Reason to compare |
|---|---|
| Dedolight DLED10-D | Larger daylight package than compact DLED heads. 300W class; product detail lists 308W; A-size optical system. |
| Dedolight DLH1200D | Large daylight source with wide-to-tight focus. 1,200W lamp class; 1200-size optical system. |
| Dedolight DLED10-BI | Tunable white in the larger A-size optical system. 220W light-engine class; published maximum power 245W; A-size optical system. |
Classic Dedolight DLH4: the original low-voltage tungsten alternative with a separate supply. Compare the full power and accessory package, rather than the bare-head price.

Rental and used-fixture checks
- Verify controller and cable models against the exact head.
- Operate the full focus travel with the intended front optic fitted.
- Inspect cooling, mounting hardware, accessory retention and all cable contacts.
Confirm availability of service and replacement parts with the relevant supplier before buying older equipment. Check the actual kit contents against the shot: a missing controller, imager, lens or cable can matter more than a low head-only price.
