Overview
The Nanlite FS-60B is a bi-colour LED spotlight for small interview keys, desktop work, product accents and close fill where AC power is available. It combines the power supply and controls in the lamp, with onboard, Bluetooth and Nanlite 2.4 GHz operation.
Its 70 W rated input and 0.85 kg listed fixture mass identify this particular model. The FS package is best understood as a complete AC lamp, with its own accessory, cooling and control requirements.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Integrated AC power reduces the number of separate supply components.
- The small FM head and Bowens adapter suit a compact studio kit.
- Maximum and Constant modes offer different output behaviour across CCT.
Limitations
- There is no direct battery input; the USB port is for firmware.
- The adapter and a large softbox can dominate the small head’s size and balance.
- NANLINK and 2.4G are available, but wired DMX and CRMX are not built in.
Practical uses
The 850 g fixture is much smaller than the higher-power FS heads. It is useful near a desktop or in a compact room where the source can work close to the subject. A small softbox or bounce can make it a practical face light, with the expected reduction in intensity.
Its native accessory interface is FM. The Bowens adapter is a separate mechanical step with its own support arrangement; a Bowens softbox does not attach directly to the bare lamp mount. The manufacturer publishes output with the FM FL-11 Fresnel and PJ-FMM projection accessories, which are different from Bowens FL-20G or PJ-BM accessories.
Choose this model for its compact AC arrangement. It does not inherit the battery input of a Forza 60B simply because both lights use the number 60.
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Fixed studio key | Use the specified AC supply and secure the cable path for a recurring interview or creator setup. |
| Product photography | Choose diffusion for the desired reflection size, then adjust white balance and exposure with the actual product. |
| Background or edge | Use compatible optics, flags or a grid to keep the white-light accent off the lens and subject where unwanted. |
Output and colour
These are the manufacturer’s published 5600 K lux values for the named model and optical configuration. The distances are retained exactly as published. The FS-60B and FS-300B tables use 1/2/3 m; the current FS-150B and FS-200B charts use 1/3/5 m, so the middle columns are not directly interchangeable across the range.
The reflector and optional Fresnel concentrate light into different fields. Their higher central lux readings do not establish the output through a softbox or an evenly lit area. Fresnel spot and flood are separate focus conditions, and the lens is an additional accessory.
| Configuration, lux | 1 m | 2 m | 3 m |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5600 K, light only | 2,799 | 723 | 339 |
| 5600 K, reflector | 13,360 | 2,959 | 1,272 |
| FL-11 Fresnel, spot at 5600 K | 32,510 | 7,635 | 3,318 |
| FL-11 Fresnel, flood at 5600 K | 8,223 | 1,932 | 871 |
Power and batteries
The FS-60B connects directly to AC through its integrated supply. There is no separate included controller brick to hang on a stand. Its power rating is 70 W; keep the actual electrical load separate from the model name and any tungsten-equivalence description.
The documented input is AC, rather than a native V-mount or low-voltage battery socket. Portable operation requires a suitable AC power source, including allowance for conversion losses and continuous load. A USB firmware socket does not provide an alternative battery feed.
Retain ventilation around the housing, route the power lead with slack for tilt movement, and include the full fixture and modifier in the support calculation. The quoted fixture mass excludes stand and modifier; it is not a complete kit weight.
Control, cooling and camera operation
Maximum mode prioritizes the available output at each colour temperature. Brightness can change when moving through the warm/cool mix. Constant mode trades some peak output for a steadier result across a colour-temperature adjustment.
Choose the mode before setting exposure and record it with CCT, intensity and optical accessories. The same dimmer percentage in the two modes is not a complete exposure match. This variable-white engine does not provide RGB hue selection or green/magenta correction.
The manual limits output to 25% with the fan off; full output is available with the fan on.
For dialogue, check the actual noise at the microphone position after the fixture reaches operating temperature. A fan-off setting changes the exposure budget. Do not apply full-power photometric figures to a quiet-mode setup without measuring the result.
Bluetooth allows direct NANLINK app control. The separate Nanlite 2.4 GHz route supports a compatible handheld remote or the optional WS-TB-1 transmitter box. A Bluetooth connection, Nanlite’s proprietary radio and CRMX are different control systems; this model’s listed interfaces do not include native CRMX or wired DMX.
The manual distinguishes wireless protocol versions V1.0 and V2.0, with compatible remotes requiring the appropriate selection. Confirm channel and protocol before treating a failure to respond as a hardware fault. Test changes at the planned lamp position, particularly through walls or behind scenery.
The 12 effects include CCT and intensity loops, flash, pulse, storm, TV, paparazzi, candle/fire, bad bulb, fireworks, explosion and welding. They vary white light within the engine’s limits. Use the manual’s USB firmware procedure and the file for the exact model.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
The FM mount and Bowens adapter require the correct installation sequence described in the manual. Verify the adapter is fully locked and supported before fitting a larger modifier.
An umbrella holder provides a quick route to a broad source. Add external flags or a matching grid when spill control matters. Protect the emitter with its transport cap only after the lamp is off and cool, and remove the cap before operation.
On a used fixture, inspect the accessory lock, yoke, tilt handle, power inlet, fan and display. Test both ends of the CCT range, low-level dimming, effects, app connection and fan-off behaviour. Include the correct reflector, power cable and any adapter in the package check.
Alternatives and related fixtures
The Forza 300B II serves a different power/control package with more location-oriented options. FC-series models add a separate supply and wired DMX/RDM. Choose the FS-60B when its integrated AC arrangement, actual output, mounting and radio-control routes fit the job.
| Fixture | Choose it for |
|---|---|
| FC-300B | A separate-supply bi-colour head with DMX/RDM and an optional battery-controller route. |
| Forza 60B II | A battery-capable location system with a different head and power package. |
| amaran COB 60x S | A different app and power ecosystem for white-light work. |
What people are saying
Andrew Murphy: a small creator-studio option
In his FS-60B review, Murphy presents it as a particularly useful budget light for YouTube production. The compact AC-powered design is the attraction; it requires a different location-power plan from the battery-capable Forza heads.

Rental and used-fixture checks
Check the AC inlet and cable, FM-to-Bowens adapter, yoke and fan. Test both white endpoints, a slow fade, the selected radio protocol and fan-off output. Keep the installation on a suitable AC circuit with clear cooling space.
