Overview
The Aladdin U-LITE is a miniature USB-powered colour accent light. Six LEDs provide seven selectable colours, making it a small practical detail source for props, shelves and close product scenes.

Its 1.2 W rating and USB-A plug define a very different tool from a camera-mounted key light. It is a fixed-colour accent device rather than a full RGBWW lamp with Kelvin, hue and console controls.
Earlier model. This entry documents an older Aladdin fixture. Check replacement parts, batteries and controller support before buying a used kit.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- Very small USB-powered accent
- Can hide inside a prop
- Simple colour selection
Limitations
- Limited output and only seven colour choices.
- Needs a separate USB power source.
- No documented CCT, DMX, CRMX or app control.
Practical uses
Prop detail. Hide the light where a small pool of colour is visible, then keep the USB power bank outside the camera’s view.
Product accent. Use it close to a small object for a coloured reflection or edge. Its usefulness depends strongly on distance and the surrounding exposure.
Background point. Place it as a tiny colour detail in the background and assess it at the final aperture and focus distance.
Choosing between a prop accent and a controllable fixture
Use the U-LITE where its seven fixed colours and very small USB package solve the shot. It has no documented Kelvin setting, remote dimming or console address, so repeatability comes from the selected colour, placement, power source and camera exposure. For a cueable colour change or a repeatable white setting, compare ALITE 2 or a remotely controllable pocket light before hiding the source in the prop.
Output and colour
The specification sheet gives a 1.2 W power rating but no lux table, CCT range or camera colour metrics. Judge the actual accent on camera rather than assigning the colour-performance claims of larger Aladdin lights.
The optional diffuser broadens the visible emitting surface and softens the direct LED appearance. It cannot turn the tiny source into a large soft key.
Power and batteries
The light plugs into a suitable USB-A source such as a power bank or extension cable. It does not contain its own documented battery.
Test the chosen power bank at the lamp’s low load; some power banks switch off when the connected load is small. Secure the power source and avoid putting bending force through the USB plug.
Control, cooling and camera operation
Tap the rear to cycle through the seven colours. Confirm that the selected colour persists as needed after power is removed or the fixture is moved.
The published sheet does not describe dimming or remote control. Test flicker and the selected colour at the actual camera settings before using it in a close product or effects shot.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
The A-USB-DF mini softbox is the dedicated diffuser accessory. Keep it clear of pressure and check that it fits securely.
Mount the USB source and extension so the small lamp is not supporting a heavy power bank. Protect the plug and circuit from wet conditions and contact with conductive set materials.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | Choose it for |
|---|---|
| Aputure MC | A larger adjustable colour pocket light. |
| Aputure MT Pro | A miniature bar when more control and a different source shape are needed. |
| ALITE 2 | 15 W CLAID pocket light with a removable battery, green/magenta adjustment and Wi-Fi Art-Net. Its small emitting face gives different softness and coverage from a mat. |
| EYE-LITE | Discontinued miniature bi-colour eye light with an internal battery. A close accent source rather than a broad key or full-colour system. |
| A-LITE (Original) | Discontinued original 8 W bi-colour A-LITE with Micro-USB charging. It lacks the CLAID colour engine, USB-PD and network features of ALITE 2. |
Rental and used-fixture checks
Check all seven colours, the USB connector and the tap response. Test it with the intended power source for longer than a quick switch-on.
Confirm the small diffuser and any extension are included, and check that the power bank does not shut down during a take.
