Overview
The Nanlux Evoke 600C is a 600W full-colour point-source LED using the eight-emitter Nebula C8 engine. It combines a 1,000–20,000K white-light range with extensive tint and colour control in a weather-resistant fixture.
The 600C is a larger working source with an integrated power supply, a locking electronic Bowens interface and a separate wired-controller option. Its head weight, modifier choice and selected fan mode make a substantial difference to the practical package.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- BE mount combines Bowens compatibility with electronic accessory functions.
- Nebula C8 offers a wide white range, tint and colour modes.
Limitations
- A 48 V solution is required for direct DC operation.
- The selected fan mode and accessory affect usable output.
Practical uses
The 600C suits a small or middle-sized crew needing white-light flexibility and saturated colour from the same head. It can move from a shaped background to a key or a bounce, provided the selected accessory and fan mode leave enough exposure.
The Evoke 900C is a useful larger reference, while white-light Evoke B models address a different priority. Choose colour capability because it serves the scene; a larger wattage is not automatically the more suitable spectrum or beam.
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Soft key | Choose the modifier and working distance first, then meter the diffused result. |
| Colour interaction | Check the actual hue through the camera and leave enough output for saturated settings. |
Output and colour
Selected 5,600K readings are listed below. The reflector column uses the 25° BE reflector. The missing bare-head 7m value is left blank rather than extrapolated.
| Distance | Bare | 25° reflector |
|---|---|---|
| 3m | 2,754 lux | 20,820 lux |
| 5m | 1,042 lux | 6,810 lux |
| 7m | Not listed | 3,380 lux |
C8 uses eight coloured emitter types, including deep red and indigo. The physical engine should not be confused with the names of its control modes. RGBW mode, for example, describes a set of user controls rather than four physical emitter types.
The documented modes include CCT, HSI, HSIW, RGBW, x,y, gel and effects. CCT/tint is appropriate for white-light matching; x,y coordinates are useful for a specific chromaticity target; HSI is often convenient for an exploratory colour effect. Record the mode as well as its values when reproducing a look.
The broad white-light range and tint adjustment do not establish the same exposure at every setting. Saturated blue or red can be much dimmer than white, and different camera systems can render those colours differently. Test the intended colour on the actual surface and camera.
Power and batteries
The 600C has a 600W rated-power specification and a 48V/12.5A DC input. A portable source must meet the specified voltage and continuous load, not merely carry a large watt-hour label. Use the documented compatible power system.
The power supply is integrated into the head. That removes an external supply box from the stand layout, while increasing the mass at the fixture. The wired controller is a control accessory; it is not a separate ballast that can move the main power-supply weight to the floor.
Control, cooling and camera operation
The current manual identifies built-in DMX input/output. The website’s summary table attaches a shared adapter footnote to DMX and Ethernet, which is less precise than the port diagram. The manual specifies the physical DMX connection; network expansion should be confirmed with the appropriate extension adapter.
CRMX provides wireless DMX reception, while NANLINK serves the app-based workflow. Use the matching DMX chart and verify the fixture’s profile during prep. The existence of several control systems does not establish that all can own the light simultaneously.
The manual specifies a 50% maximum brightness in Low Speed and 15% in Off. Pause temporarily stops the fan while allowing the documented maximum until temperature management returns it to Smart. Pause therefore is not the same operating condition as a sustained fan-off setting.
Choose and test the required sound mode before setting exposure. A cool lamp on the bench may behave differently after it has warmed during a long scene. Listen from the microphone position and leave space around cooling paths.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
The manual defines BE as a Bowens mount with electronic contacts. It also includes PosiTight and a balance-adjusting system. Bowens mechanical compatibility does not establish that every optical modifier is appropriate for this engine or rated power.
The published options include the motorized FL-22E and BE reflectors. Select for coverage, edge quality and output at the real distance. A Fresnel, reflector and softbox perform different jobs; their highest centre readings should not be treated as directly equivalent fields.
The published head and yoke figures are separate: 7.26kg for the head and 1.35kg for the yoke, before the chosen reflector, cable and other accessories. Use the complete load when selecting support. The fixture photograph does not communicate all the leverage of a large modifier.
IP66 is a rating for the specified fixture arrangement, not for arbitrary adapters, batteries or distribution. Follow the manual’s connection and sealing instructions. Suitable support, secondary restraint and cable management still matter in an indoor setup and in weather.

What people are saying
Matthew Allard: strong colour with package caveats
Allard praises the 600C’s colour performance, accessory system and interface, but reports occasional high-pitched fan oscillation. He also highlights the size of the motorised Fresnel and the need for a 48 V battery solution. Read or watch the full account.
