Overview
The Astera QuikSpot is a compact, battery-powered full-colour spotlight with a manually adjustable 13–60° beam. It combines the Titan RGBMintAmber engine with fast handling features for location work, events, accents and installations.
Its main advantage is quick placement without an immediate power run. The built-in battery, removable yoke and QuikTurn zoom make it useful for adjusting a beam rapidly. It should still be evaluated as a 38W LED-draw class source, with runtime and available brightness tied to its operating settings.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- A compact controlled source fits difficult accent positions.
- Astera wireless control supports remote colour and level changes.
Limitations
- Beam filters and diffusion change both coverage and exposure.
- Confirm hardware revision, runtime setting and the required power/data accessories.
Practical uses
IP65 applies to the specified wired and unwired arrangements; connector sealing and the rest of the power chain still matter. The operating range is 0–40°C. For a rain setup, follow the manual rather than treating the product rating as approval for every cable arrangement.
QuikSpot suits quickly positioned accents, a visible colour wash, a focused pool in set dressing or an event fixture that may move repeatedly. For more output and a conventional Fresnel workflow, compare the larger Astera Fresnels. For a luminous line or broad reflected stripe, the Titan Tube solves a different problem.
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Visible practical | Set brightness and colour through the camera so the fixture retains the intended detail in frame. |
| Accent or reflection | Position the source for its beam and emitting shape, then control spill with the correct accessory. |
Output and colour
The published output table gives 3,010 lux at 3m at 5,500K and 1,824lm at that temperature. Its table does not attach a zoom position to that lux line, so that value does not establish 60° flood performance. Check the photometric files for the intended focus condition.
QuikTurn adjusts the beam mechanically from 13° to 60°. A narrower beam concentrates the available output; the wide setting covers more area. For a wall wash, product accent or motivated pool, judge uniformity and edge quality as well as the central meter reading.
The Titan engine provides white-light and full-colour options. Match a coloured beam through the camera rather than assuming a high CRI figure describes every saturated hue. A dark blue beam and white beam can have very different illuminance.
Use supported optical accessories and beam-shaping tools for the exact desired spread. Check whether barndoors, filters, mounting adapters or a charging arrangement are included in the chosen SKU. Test any cooling or accessory noise in a dialogue setup instead of inferring silence from the compact format.
Power and batteries
The manufacturer lists 4.5 hours at maximum brightness and a managed runtime up to 20 hours. The longer duration requires an output-managed setting. Do not build an event or shooting schedule around 20 hours of the same output as maximum mode.
The product supports OutputGain. Check its interaction with the selected runtime and operating mode before relying on a published brightness figure. A cue tested under one gain/runtime arrangement may not repeat under another. Battery charge and condition also affect reserves.
QuikSpot accepts 100–240V AC through powerCON TRUE1 input/output and lists a nominal five-hour charge time. The maximum-consumption figure is 50W, distinct from the 38W LED power-draw specification. Plan charging and distribution using the complete electrical system.
A power output connector does not mean an unlimited chain of fixtures is supported. Follow the actual connector, cable and circuit limits. For a battery-only placement, verify charge state and the required runtime before the fixture is rigged or handed over for a long installation.
Control, cooling and camera operation
The documented controls include wired DMX/RDM, CRMX and the Astera wireless/app system. PrepBox compatibility supports preparation of a package before installation. That preparation should include addresses, colour modes, runtime settings and signal-loss behaviour.
A quick deployment is only useful when every fixture behaves as expected. Label units, save the intended look and check the control profile at prep. Use the current manual and matching DMX chart rather than a personality for a different Astera spotlight.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
The removable yoke, AirlineTrack and threaded mounting options allow several supported configurations. Optional mounting accessories should be specified explicitly when a particular stand or low-profile clamp arrangement is required. A thread on a product photo does not identify the complete grip package.
TiltMeter uses the fixture’s orientation information to help align multiple lights. It can speed up repeated positions, but the same numerical angle does not guarantee the same beam placement if fixtures sit at different heights or distances. Check the result on the receiving surface.
