Overview
The Creamsource Mini+ is a legacy 150W LED panel in a nominal 1 × 1 format, made in fixed-white and Bender bi-colour versions. Its narrow spot optics, separate power supply and quick-release yoke made it a compact directional tool for location, broadcast and studio packages.

The “+” identifies the higher-colour-rendering LED generation, rather than the original Mini. A used listing should identify the complete model: Daylight, Tungsten or Bender. The Bender adjusts from 2,700–6,500K; a fixed-Daylight head cannot gain that capability through a controller setting.

Strengths and limitations
Strengths
- A concentrated spot beam can remain useful for a small bounce or accent in an existing package.
- Separate power and a removable yoke give flexibility when positioning a shallow head.
Limitations
- Colour capability depends on the exact version; this is not an RGB light.
- IP20 and ageing power accessories limit how casually a used package can be deployed.
- Older documentation gives different high-speed qualifications; verify the actual version before booking a specialist shot.
Practical uses
| Setup | Working approach |
|---|---|
| Small location bounce | Fill a modest bounce evenly with the spot beam. For a larger source, check the field across the whole diffusion or board. |
| Background accent | Use the native concentration for a local patch, then fit a spreading lens when a more gradual pool is needed. |
| Existing broadcast package | Identify the white-light version, match it on camera and retain the same lens and colour setting for recurring setups. |
Output and colour
| Version / CCT | 1m | 3m |
|---|---|---|
| Daylight, 5,600K | 80,300 | 17,500 |
| Bender, 3,200K | 41,900 | 8,830 |
| Bender, 4,000K | 69,900 | 15,000 |
| Bender, 5,600K | 44,100 | 9,730 |
These are separate version-labelled tables in Creamsource’s 2019 spot-beam data sheet. The Bender peaks around the middle setting in these figures. Do not quote the fixed-Daylight reading as the Bender’s daylight output, or treat constant power as constant illuminance.
Power and batteries
Order the matched Mini supply, head cable and mounting hardware with a used or rental unit. The data sheet distinguishes the 150W head from the 160W-capacity supply supplied in the kit. The fixture accepts 24–32V DC, so a normal single 14.4V camera battery is not a direct replacement.
Control, cooling and camera operation
Onboard level and white-balance controls work alongside 5-pin DMX in/thru. The part number is more useful than the colour of the case for identification. The legacy manual marks the higher-CRI “+” generation with hardware revision 2 and identifies D, T and B colour variants.
The data sheet advertises operation above 1,000fps in High Speed mode, while the older shared manual qualifies high-speed behaviour by variant, dimming and Maximum Output settings. Treat that as an operating distinction to resolve on the actual head. Test the intended frame rate and shutter through the entire cue.
Modifiers, rigging and the working package
The two front rails take supported lenses, gels and diffusion accessories; dome and softbox availability depends on the package. Check that any supplied accessory is Mini-sized rather than Micro-sized. Keep heat-sink fins and power-supply ventilation unobstructed when hiding the head near scenery.
Alternatives and related fixtures
| Fixture | When to compare it |
|---|---|
| Vortex4 | Modern full-colour control and a weather-rated hard-panel format. |
| Aputure LS 600x Pro | A larger bi-colour package with a different modifier ecosystem. |
Rental and used-fixture checks
- Read the complete model label and confirm hardware revision, colour version and operating settings.
- Test the supplied PSU and cable together; inspect all ageing connectors and yoke locks.
- Confirm the lens, dome and bag fit before booking a job around an incomplete used kit.
- Measure the actual dimensions if clearance is tight: the legacy web page and data sheet contain inconsistent dimension labels.
